What does it mean to be a Member?

AYS Members are donors who give between $65-$1,000 dollars a year in tax-deductible donations that directly support of our programs. Members are a vibrant community of supporters who make extraordinary concerts accessible to everyone in Los Angeles. Members are invited to special events and performances, get the best seats at Royce Hall, receive discounts, perks and gifts all season-long, and wine & dine at exclusive post concert receptions.

What does Membership support?

Free Concerts

World-Class Training

Innovative Programming

Artistic Excellence

Community Engagement

The generosity of our members supports programs and values central to the mission of AYS, affirming that:

Access to excellent musical training should be based solely on merit, not financial means.
AYS has provided tuition-free training to generations of elite concert artists. There is no fee to audition, and every member of the orchestra is paid.

Exceptional quality orchestral performances should be accessible to all members of the community.
AYS does something no other organization of its kind is able to do. In addition to paying our musicians, we also present the majority of our concerts for free, while performing in the most prestigious venues in Los Angeles.

Classical music is not only alive and vibrant, but is relevant to all audiences.
Our audience is living proof that when you break down the barriers that keep newcomers away, people from all walks of life are excited by classical music. The AYS audience includes all ages, incomes, and backgrounds. Last season, 60% were under age 60, and over 40% identified as people of color. And the audience is constantly growing, nearly doubling in size over the last five years.

Outside the concert hall, AYS provides music education at Title-I middle schools through our Share-A-Stand program, and brings live music to places like Children’s Hospital LA, Union Rescue Mission, and the “Dancing Through Parkinsons” program.

What about other kinds of gifts?

Gifts given to other campaigns (for example, making a gift in tribute, or winning an item at our annual auction), aren’t automatically counted as Membership gifts. If you’ve already given a gift of $65 or more, but aren’t sure if you’re a member, reach out to us

For a new membership gift, use the donation buttons on this page. Or, if you’re sending a gift by mail, please include “membership” in the check memo. Thank you in advance!

How do I make my Membership gift?

Once you select the membership level that’s right for you, you can choose to donate the full amount today, or make you gift in monthly or quarterly installments. For example, a $120 Membership could be paid as $10/month, or $30/quarter.

You can donate online using the buttons at the top and bottom of this page, call the AYS office at 310-470-2332 to donate by phone, or mail your gift to:

American Youth Symphony
